Good morning everyone!
First of all I want to thank you for all of your support, I had a rough week fundraising last week, but I'm back on the ball now and looking forward to getting really active again.
1. This past Friday I gained the sponsorship of the Sylvite Group of Companies (http://www.sylvite.ca/). Mr. Bob McNaughton has been a long time supporter of Global Vision, his son Jason, who I also met, has been on 2 missions in the past so it was great to meet another grad.
2. One of my MPs Mr. Ed Holder was extremely helpful and gave me some good advice for gaining sponsorship and also made a personal donation which I was very pleased about. He also helped me to get a meeting with one of the partners at Siskinds which will be taking place on Friday, so I am looking forward to that as well - hopefully I can convince him to sponsor me too!
3. I got in touch with the President of the Auto Parts Manufacturing Association, which is a huge industry in China, so he gave me some good insight into the opportunities for local businesses, and encouraged me to go after one company in particular, which i'll be working on in the days to come.
4. One of the Ginseng exporting companies that I had approached showed interest in the mission but I had some trouble getting him on the phone last week to provide him with a list of exactly who I wanted to meet with and what I wanted to discuss with them. I'll try again this week to finalize that partnership.
5. Fanshawe and some of the other faculties at Western have been a problem to get in touch with, but when I met with MPP Deb Matthews she said I might want to look into Career Colleges (which are often for profit, private institutions so they might have some more money to sponsor me)
6. I will be meeting with Andrew Schiestel from tbkcreative on Monday. I noticed that he is very good at marketing himself and what he does, so I'm hoping to be able to pick his brain about some of that stuff which could be very helpful when meeting people in the future.
7. I've teamed up with Mike Potters (Komoka) to go after some of the larger companies here in town - 3M, Trudell Medical etc.
8. On an unrelated note, I also did all of my course selection for next year - cant wait until september to get back to school!
Take Care!
Robert
