Monday June 7th 2010 - Efforts begin to pay off!

Hi Everyone!

I'm so happy to see people commenting on my blogs its great to know that people are actually reading it!

So, I know it's been a while since I posted my last update but here's what is new:

1. Most important things first: I've achieved sponsorship - yay!!! The London Economic Development Corporation as well as the Duchess of Kent Legion here in London have agreed to sponsor me! All totalled I'm getting towards 1/5th of my goal. The process started slowly but I'm confident that it will be picking up steam from here (i hope :D).

2. I got shut down by a few more potential sponsors and felt the strangely familiar sting of rejection haha, it's a feeling that I think I'll never get used to but I remain optimistic.

3. I've followed up/contacted most of my preliminary education partners (institutions that I would have to execute deliverables for while in China) and am now just going to wait for a couple of days in order to follow them up.

4. The Rotary that I've been having trouble with has still yielded nothing and the Executive Assistant there is, if nothing else, very good at her job. :(. But I am persistant - as JF suggested, you have to be "that bugger" ahha.

5. My aim for tomorrow night is to get all the information out to the Lion's clubs and Legions that I am targetting and hopefully be able to set up some more meetings in the next couple weeks. Its amazing how time flies - its been a month already since the National Youth Caucus - WOW! Thinking about that right now is starting to freak me out :S China really will be here before we know it!

6. I found out the student opportunities fund for UWO is closed during the summer so unless they accept applications after the fact (unlikely) that wont be an option for me.

7. On the bright side there are still so many options I dont think i'd be able to exhaust them all even if I didnt work! Unfortunatly that makes time an issue, i need to make sure i'm being super efficient. I work again tomorrow and wednesday so i wont be able to make any business calls but still, I will be able to prepare things at night so it's not all lost.

Thats all for now, I'm going to make a couple more calls and then go to bed. Thanks for reading!

Robert
